Although we can’t meet we can do things “together”.
Here are the steps and music for the Amazing Grace warm-up we have been doing recently.

Disappointing to have to make this decision but looking forward to 2021
Quentin, Ruth and Emily had a great time at Summer School, inspiring teaching from Mervyn Short, Jamie Berg and Christine Freeman, wonderful music from Ian T Muir, James Gray, Iain Mackenzie and others, lovely evening dances including Hogmanay and the President’s Ball and lots of friendly dancers.
Fund raising Ball for the Lake Roxburgh Hall – and a load of new dancers. This was in July and it’s taken a while to get to doing something with the video clips. Fantastic decoration of the hall with chandeliers and a baronial style fireplace and everyone dressed up.
A mix of Ceilidh and Scottish Country Dances to suit a mix of new and experienced dancers.
Somehow one of the titles in the video clip was not edited correctly so it says “Cumberland Reel” when it should say “Best Set in the Hall”. Eventually I’ll get round to correcting it and waiting a couple of hours while it uploads to YouTube.
Rather late notice but Lawrence has stepped up and will be hosting the South Island Easter School 2020. Accommodation will be the issue so anyone thinking of coming needs to organise this NOW. Halls are booked, teachers (Helen Smythe and Jeanette Watson) confirmed and we have live music (Thissldhu – Clare Simpson and Iain Matcham) for the evenings.
Registration forms can be found here: Easter School 2020 Registration Doc Easter 2020 Registration pdf
The Currall Reel, devised by Neville Miller for Quentin and Ruth Currall’s 25th wedding anniversary. A 4×40 Strathspey, here danced twice through as a demonstration. Natalie Scott wrote the lead tune after playing at the 2018 Weekend and seeing the dance instructions. The Currall Reel

Live music and a programme that has a mix of Ceilidh dances and easy and advanced Scottish Country Dance. Cup of tea from 4:00, aim to dance from 4:30 but as the band fly in to Dunedin at 3:00 we might need to be flexible.
There will be no club night on the two Wednesdays 10th and 17th July – Quentin will be away.
Dancers from as far away as Queensland as well from all over New Zealand (Whangarei to Invercargill) had a great time at the South Island Easter School at Owaka.
We got some positive coverage in the Otago Daily Times – all good to keep SCD in front of people and help cultivate the ground for recruiting new dancers. ODT article and some video here (you have to sit through the ad at the start of the video I’m afraid):

Here is also a clip of the last 3 times through Cranberry Tart during the opening Social Dance on the Friday night Cranberry Tart
